Thousands of years before modern science defined the link between the mind and body, practitioners of Ayurveda, India's system of traditional medicine, were already on the job. Known as the science, or knowledge of life, (Ayur means life, while Veda means knowledge), the practice acknowledges that there is no better way to heal the body than through the mind. As such, being free from illness depends on finding balance within the body. Naturally, the best way to go about finding balance within the body, according to the practice, was through the foods put into it.
As such, Ayurvedic practice involved preparing foods with specific health benefits. (And now we come to the basis of this sumptuous blended tea.) Among the most powerful of these foods were turmeric and ginger. Both considered be something of a natural medicine chest, each act as powerful detoxifiers. Both were also prized for their ability to promote digestion and boost the immune system. Thankfully, both are also quite delicious.
Building on Ayurvedic tradition, and in an effort to help you find balance within your own body, we've added both turmeric and ginger, along with calendula and lush peach flavoring to a blend of hand-plucked seasonal black tea. The result is a cup you'll want to sip throughout the day as pressures mount and your mind seeks a simple way to escape, if only for a moment. Luxury Ingredients: Black tea*, Turmeric*, Ginger*, Calendula*, Natural flavors.
Pour 1qt of boiling water over 1 tea bag. Let steep for 5-8 minutes. Remove tea bag (squeeze to ensure concentrate is full strength). Dilute concentrate by adding 3 qts cold water....add sugar to taste.
