VERONICA PILLOW

 

Featuring a beautiful striped blue and white design, our Veronica pillow, named after it's maker, is crafted on the foot pedal loom by a female artisan weaving cooperative from an indigenous community in the Western Highlands of Guatemala. These artisan weavers are expert in the ancient techniques of back-strap, pedal loom weaving and embroidery. The cooperative enables isolated and marginalized women who live in these areas to earn an income.  They use the traditional techniques of the back strap loom, the pedal loom, and natural dyes made from bark and flowers to produce their beautiful contemporary textiles. 

Our partnership with this cooperative helps to support these female weavers by providing them with a fair wage and economic empowerment.
