The Portico is a minimalist hanging planter with an integrated drainage system to prevent root rot. It's made from premium stoneware.
The silhouette is stripped down. A clean cylinder hangs from above, with drainage built into the base rather than improvised with a saucer. The proportions suit a single plant rather than a group, which keeps the hanging line clean.
Each Portico by Misewell is made by hand in the Milwaukee studio using premium stoneware ceramic. It measures 6 inches in diameter and 7.5 inches high. Eight glazes are available: Vermilion, Pink Matte, Speckle, Chrome, Blue, Black, Dune, or White Matte. Hanging instructions are included.
Hang one in a kitchen window, over a bathtub, or on a front porch. Use it for a pothos, a spider plant, or any trailer that wants vertical space.

Which of the 8 glazes should I pick?
Dune and White Matte are the quiet neutrals — they read as texture rather than colour. Speckle adds subtle variation. Vermilion and Pink Matte are the colour statements. Blue and Black both ground the plant above visually. Chrome is the reflective wildcard.
How does the drainage actually work?
The drainage system is built into the base of the planter, so excess water has somewhere to go instead of pooling around the roots. That prevents root rot in hanging setups where you can't easily check the soil.
What plants work best hanging?
Trailers — pothos, spider plants, string-of-hearts, small ivy. The 6-inch interior fits a 4- or 5-inch nursery pot slipped inside. Skip the woody-stem plants that don't cascade.
Does it include hanging hardware?
Hanging instructions are included but the ceiling hook is typically a separate pickup. Any hardware-store ceiling hook rated for 5–10 pounds works — pick one that matches your ceiling type (stud, drywall anchor, concrete anchor).
Can I use it outdoors?
